Tiny Patch of Sky (2008)

Tiny Patch of Sky is a live 16mm-based video feedback loop of a treelined skyline at Prospect Park, NYC, that will soon be imposed on by a 23-storey luxury apartment complex presently under contstruction. The 16mm based footage of the skyline is picked up by a video camera and superimposed on to the film image creating a meditative experience of the skyline. If film, as Benjamin claims "extends our comprehension of the necessities which rule our lives by focusing on hidden details," Tiny Patch of Sky seeks to amplify this experience and become what cybernetician Gregory Bateson terms "a difference that makes a difference."
